So we’re back, and life has changed dramatically. I married DarthLawyer four months ago. Now, he’s the favorite parent of Loshka the Terrible, and we’ve settled into our happily ever after.

I missed the blog, now that there’s no wedding to plan, no office move to look forward to. I’m settled in, both at work (two years yesterday), and at home (almost a year in this house).

But I’ve been listening to non-stop Adele, and the piano in Someone Like You has obviously made it the song that gets played over and over. Maybe two years ago I would have listened to the lyrics with longing, trying desperately believe I could move past the hurt that I had hung on to for far too long by finding someone like him. But now, though the piano and voice are beautiful in this song, the words creep me out. Why would anyone want to find someone like the ex that had hurt them so much? And somewhere between Voldemort and Darth, I dated someone a lot like Voldemort. For less than a month, because the same criticisms and judgments were, while painful, so eye-opening with respect to how I treated myself. And what I put up with, allowed, even encouraged from my men.

So maybe it was the marked differences between my now-husband and my ex-boyfriend that helped me know so early that he was The One. In two weeks, we knew, we were meeting each other’s families and making plans. Six months and one week later, I had his grandmother’s diamond on my left hand, and one year later, to the day, we were married. And he is everything.

Darth is kind, hilarious, strong, amazingly intelligent, serious when appropriate, and hot. Definitely hot. And he loves me so much. He takes care of me when I need it, understands that my depression can cause bad days for no reason, and we have so much fun together. Our few arguments are about stupid things, like laundry. Things that in the big picture, mean nothing.

And now, 2012 is year of the baby. So you can expect a log of the trying to get pregnant adventures (properly censored, of course), and once we get to 12 weeks, you’ll hear all about the pregnancy. So we’ll see where this new adventure takes us.
